HFHS talk - Growing a Tree from an 18th Century Root - Felicity Brimblecombe

Building a family tree and starting with just a name is not easy!  What and where are the sources?   How accurate, or inaccurate, is the available data?

This talk will focus on researching the family trees of two important gardeners born in the mid 18th century - William Ireland (a foreman working for 'Capability' Brown) and Archibald Thomson (a botanical advisor) - and all the errors in data encountered.

This talks combines the speaker's interests in two different areas of history.  An alternative title could be 'Resolving  Errors in Garden History using Family History'.
